WTH can't we transfer history?

When you want to keep track of something long term, the Recorder works well. However, the way it stores its configuration is kept away from the user, and you can’t edit or transfer the statistics in any usable way, which makes it feel like you’re on the brink of losing data any moment

You can create a helper with one entity as a source, I’m not denying that. I mean as native, GUI functionality for backing up and controlling your own statistics data. I am also aware that you can export a CSV, but you can’t re import it or anything like that.

I voted for you. Maybe you should as well.

By the way, there is an exellent custom integration named ‘merge sensor history’ that does just this. All we need is that functionality to be moved into core. I’ve used it quite a few times now and it has been flawless.

Thanks for that link! That could be interesting if HA doesn’t change the schema.

You can download the history as a csv from the history tab. Any number of entities

and easily ingest/import the a csv into an external DB, which are not “connected to the Recorder”
But yes, importing csv is another story
There is this
Recorder - Spook 👻 a scary powerful toolbox for Home Assistant. .
GitHub - klausj1/homeassistant-statistics: This HA integration allows to import and export long term statistics from/to a file like csv or tsv · GitHub .

So who knows when it becomes a Builtin Feature
