What always is a challenge for me is changing fonts, font size, font color, … in any of the cards. Yes there is something like Card Mod however it only works in less than half of the time for me. Maybe I am not too familiar with Card Mod. The thing is: for something that sounds as simple as changing a font and so forth, it would be great to have that as a native selection into HA… not needing any sort of other tool to do it. Card mod also does not work with any card. SO it is not convenient in my opinion.
Yes I have been using ChatGPT to help me out, but in the particular case of font manipulation it does not work in many cases.
So it would be great to have this part of native UI in HA.
Fonts are not simple. They are annoying frustrating to work with.
Fonts are not the same from device to device, so one font might be named the same as on another device, but have different width and spacing, another font might not exist at all.
Sometimes there are conversion tables in the browsers, so the more common names can be automatically converted to a font that is on the device, but it is often only a font that is somewhat similar.
What are your goals for changing fontsize/color?
Is it for example to have bigger fonts to improve readability from a distance or is it something else?
Also don’t forget to vote for your own WTH
I have the same Problem, wall mounted tablet which is far too smal to read from distance. Changing size and other stuff for the screensaver took already many attempts with chatgpt… Coming from Edomi it is really frustrating not having those simple Features directly in the ui
Using chatgpt → “it does not work in many cases”.
Customizing fonts (at least font-size, not a font itself) is SUPER EASY with card-mod. It is explained in details in the main card-mod thread.
What is more important fact that adapting UI to a particular device is not only about changing a font-size - it needs alterations for paddings/margins/widths/heights/grid layout/… It can be done by card-mod + relative units like “er, vh, …” + adaptive technics like flex/grid/… Yes, it needs investment of precious personal time to learning and numerous “try/fail/repeat/succeed”.
I agree that changing things like fonts and colors should be possible through the UI directly - not having to use card-mod, etc. You can now change: icons, icon height, show name/state/icon, theme on the UI on some cards - this really needs some work to make it pervasive throughout the UI to enable customization of of the look and feel.
Sorry, could you name a card where we can customize an icon height?
