WTH choose addon version or downgrade

It would be good to be able to downgrade or select versions of addons from the GUI or as a less preferred option the CLI.

If you upgrade a addon and it doesn’t work or breaks something then your only option currently is to rollback a snapshot.
Regardless of how well you have read the release notes you may still have issues and need to go back.

I recently had issues with Grafana v7 and wanted to roll back to v6 for a specific grafana plugin support.

you can do that know by restore part of the snapshot

I know it works had to downgrade my deCONZ couple of months ago

That is the method I have used in the past too.

The issue I had with grafana is that the addon changed from v6 to v7 about 4months ago and I don’t keep backups for that long.
I didn’t notice the issue with the grafana plugin until it was too late and the plugin author has no plans to fix their plugin.

I could use portainer or something and one day I’ll go figure that out, but in the meantime it is just a WTH post.

It would be good to have the same GUI version selection for the core container as well to roll back HA if that breaks.

Technically this is not as simple as it sounds. We do have an idea to improve on it, in reality there always be add-ons that won’t be able to handle this.

For example, add-on data that gets migrated on update. A simple downgrade might break the add-on from working.

So in general, even if this option exists: Backups!
