WTH… Documentation as ebook

I propose having a button to download a copy of the documentation as a .epub file for easier reading. Alternatively, NabuCasa could offer a free kindle book of the docs on Amazon.

I assume this WTH will be a major hit and quickly rise to the top of the votes list since it could lead to more people reading the manual

But in all honesty, this is something I would make use of. What do you all think?

The documentation changes daily. https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant.io/pulls the ebook would be out of date as soon as it was published.

What’s you motivatiom/reasoning for this?

Do you want a permanent copy? Then it is likely an unwise idea given @tom_l 's response.

Do you want a more readable format? That I could get behind.

Maybe a different reason?

I assumed it updated monthly not daily. I’m just suggesting it from a readability perspective.

Do you have an example of dynamic documentation you do like the format/readability of?

If it was available as a .epub I could load it on my Kindle and read it with less eye strain.

Would you recommend any different format?

I don’t mean the encoding, but rather the visial layout. Is there a specific example of documentation that looks the way you want Home Assistant to look?

Oh, no i do not really have any preference as far as layout goes.

Then I suggest using an online HTML to EPUB converter, or just saving the docs as a PDF.
