WTH Does a Climate Entity Default to Heat When Turned on?

There should be some form of default power on option for climate entities, currently it always turns on to heat despite and previous setting.

For example my AC can heat or cool, and turning on the entity via the dashboard it always defaults back to heat when I only ever use it for cooling. This problem is mostly an issue in particular with using mushroom cards and the different mode buttons hidden.

I have looked up this issue and it’s certainly not just a problem with my setup. So it would be nice to either be able to define a default power on mode.
