WTH does Home Assistant’s Companion apps for iOS and Android not have built-in native media player functionality/features?

Why does the official Home Assistant’s Companion apps for iOS and Android not have built-in native media player functionality/features embedded in those apps by default as standard for streaming music playback and control?

With the Music Assistant getting an official integration in Home Assistant core both the Home Assistant Companion apps are still missing out-of-the-box feature to playback music on mobil phones (and smart tablets) running a Home Assistant Companion app.

Also the frontend/dashboard is lacking fleshed out media player controls for playing audio (music) on the device itself.

Related feature missing is syncronized music playback for multi-room audio using multiple the new Home Assistant Voice Preview Edition hardware around a home, but that would perhaps more of a ESPHome media player feature?

Maybe it would be a good idea to have a ”Year of Music Playback” next in the coming years?

So you want to play media on the device via music assistant or you want to control media from apps on the device?

I want to play media from Music Assistant on the modbile phone that is running the Home Assistant Companion app, and also control that audio playback from that app, both when at home and when not at home.

for that the best is to wait for official support to come via an app like the desktop variants have: Companion App - Music Assistant

FWIW once the app is installed the HA companion app has the ability to read and control any media app on the device, however I suspect at that point you may have a separate media_player entity to control

for the mobile_app integration to really support this we need to add support for the domain in HA core
