WTH Does the new Lovelace dashboard still rely on columns?

The dashboard needs to be based on a grid rather than columns.

Great job providing the option to change the card layout, but as long as we are restricted to columns, the dashboard isn’t reaching its full potential in terms of customisability.

  • I’d like a ticker tape style card that goes the full width of the screen.
  • I cant resize the energy distribution card.
  • Having 3 Columns for my dashboard means some cards have a lot of wasted space, but if I have 4 columns many cards are then too small. It wouldn’t be a big deal if I could customise the width of the individual columns, but I can’t.

and the height of the cards messes with the look when stuck with columns and rows. would like for cards to be able to float and layer too
