WTH does the ZWave Installation Auto Install that Add-on?

This messed with me forever. I fought with this thing when the UI Add-on became available, then it started to work (I didn’t know why) so I stopped asking and used it for months. (Both Add-ons were installed, I thought both were needed).

Then I had to do a restore, and I couldn’t get Zwave up. Again fighting for a while and it worked. Still didn’t put it together.

Finally I recently took a deep dive and figured out what was happening.

If I leave that box checked, IT installs that Add-on for me. How kind #%#$#%##!!

That checkbox REALLY needs to say what leaving that checked does, if the intention of the existing message was to tell user that this installs the ZWave JS Add-on, it completely fails.

This may have been a cool thing when there wasn’t a ZWave JS UI Add-on, but now it’s very bad.

And I’m not the only one, either. Here is a Discord Forum post where the User, Anna, is having the same problem.

Discord.

Can maybe this be fixed, clarified, something?

There is some discussion on this issue here: WTH are integrations and addons in two separate places? - #35 by petro

It seems that it is a known pain point. Would be good if they clarified the button’s purpose.

My pain point is it didn’t tell us that click here, the add-on loads, Don’t click here if you don’t want it.
