WTH doesn't the UI default a dialog button to the least destructive action?

When a dialog is shown, the default selected/highlighted button is usually the most dangerous choice. Pressing the enter key without reading could end in disaster.

When a dialog is displayed, imho, it should highlight / select the ‘cancel’, ‘no’, ‘abort’ etc option instead of the ‘delete’, ‘continue’, ‘reboot’ button.

E.g.
Lovelace dash → edit → add card → entities → save → 3-dots menu → delete → press enter, the card is deleted! (windows/chrome).

WTH ?! - the default action here was highlighting the cancel button, but the default action was set to ‘delete’.
