WTH don't abandon the AAOS app

Currently when it launches the only available icon is “Navigation” which then leads to… nothing.

While it might not read any sensors from the vehicle (AAOS security model), it would still be great to just be able to interact with the home from the car interface in any of the available dashboards, much like the Android and IOS apps.

The app was never abandoned. Sounds like when the app launched you may not have had a good connection to the server. In the next release a refresh button is being added so you can force it to reconnect. You should see some domains listed like light and switch etc… if connection to the server is successful

Also there is indeed sensor support.

Awesome! Do you know when this next version is expected to be released?

Or is there a way to delete the current configuration and re-install home assistant? I don’t have (that I know how) access to any settings and menus in the current app.

pending review from google so any day now

follow the steps to enable sensors

Hello
I have just seen that the refresh button is now working.
GEnial.

I wanted to ask!

Isn’t there a way to add another button similar to that, to show the original dashboard, when the car is stopped?

I understand that by google restriction, they force you to have a simple interface when the car is moving.
But isn’t it possible to add a button to switch to the original interface when the car is stationary?
Or even activate the normal interface automatically, when the car is detected as stationary?

It would be great to be able to see the original dashboard on the screen of the car.

Thanks

No they are not allowing us to do that at all. So not possible.

oops :frowning:
Too bad google…

I understand perfectly that they don’t want things that can distract from driving, but I don’t understand why if it is possible to detect when the car is stopped or not (confirmed that it is possible, they themselves block or not the access to certain app when the car is running), they don’t give the option to do it.

@dshokouhi

dont try and understand its a deliberate NO from Google, nothing beyond that. They simply dont want that for the app at this point we have no choice but to wait. This only impacts cars with Play Store, others dont have that restriction.

Yeah… I understand, Google and their stuff.

Can you think of any way to have it in the car through other means? Maybe installing a web browser in the car? (I can do that via a USB APK)

I also tried some time ago to install different APKs of Home Assistant, and I don’t remember which version, but I managed to get the original dashboard to appear.
However, any APK installed via USB gets blocked as soon as the car starts.

I was thinking of having two versions of HA installed, but I don’t think that’s possible. (One official from the Play Store, and the other from USB)

Thanks.

everytime someone finds a way next android release patches it up. Look up AAAD and others
