[WTH] Early installation, and using (locally only), custom made SSL certificates breaks a lot of things

Hi there!

I have a Home Assistant install for more then 5 years, using custom keys/certificates. One thing I noticed, looks like the ESPhome integration is lacking the ‘adopt’ feature and music players can´t stream locally.

The reason I want the SSL encryption to be intact is for preventing Eavesdropping on my local network (as a security measure).

I known I can fix this by using Nabu Casa, which I have, but then it always relies on an internet connection.

My question is, is there a way (or can there be option) to get encryption working local (only), please?

Vote this topic if having the same kind of setup and having problems with your setup when using local (only) encryption.

Thank you all, and I wish you a very nice christmas and new year celebration for all!

For all HA users struggling with self signed Keys+Certificates+CA, here is some of my info I stumbled on, and gathered/used on the long way to find some clear and useable information:

Software to manage/store/check Keys+Certificates+CA by UI:

Very usefull and clear explanations/tutorials (three part series) all about using and understanding this stuff (all credits to OneMarcFifty!!):

Adding CA-certificate to Home Assistant (All credits to @ben725!!) :

I hope this helps, just to prevent you guys the scattered road I had to walk to get some reliable information and gettings things done…
