WTH - Esphome development is so slow?

I really understand that ESPHome is the unfriendly stepkid of nabu-casa but it is a very promising

There are a lot of issues (<1,5K) and feature requests (>1.5k) and PRs (>350). These are unmanageable amounts.

The approvers/code officers are super talented but the amount of them is really low. (Even if they full time employees of nabu).

Please consider how can it be better and also discuss it’s benefits and disadvantages (even from financial side)!

  • more talented employes with rising costs?
  • distribute the task types to the area specials? why are the code officers are the GH ticket moderators?
  • announce a partner program/contest/etc where the best commits/most closed (value added!) tickets/ most used components/least bugs in the given component etc can be rewarded (by financials/by hardwares/etc) periodically (eg 1-3 monthly)
  • interim more subsequent pre- releases (or stable/latest/etc structure) with community added (and hardly tested) features?

I think the quality level bar is really high (or the code base is on low level/complex/etc.) for the community and that’s why we have a huge amount of tickets…

I don’t even have the Saint Grail, but please motive more the professionals and trust more in the community!
Don’t forget that the primary task is not to handle the tickets, but provide help to the community how they can learn to solve them…

WTH is not about ESPHome Compiler.
