WTH Give HACS a descriptive name instead of an acronym

I know I missed the month of WTH and this isn’t exactly a feature request, so mods please move this if I put it in the wrong spot.

Could we replace “HACS” with a more descriptive title in the gui? For novice users it is another barrier to learning Home Assistant. “Community Store” would work for me and when navigating the sidebar it is a clear title that is meaningful.

I am sure the forums will continue to use the jargon and that is unavoidable, but having a useful name in the gui would be a simple thing that could help novice users.

HACS is separate from HA so even if the code owner wanted to. (which I sincerely doubt HACS is well known now) It’s not a HA feature request.

I think its pretty creative when you consider that its pronounced ‘hacks’.

Thanks for clarifying this. I wasn’t clear if HA directly supported HACS or not. Obviously the content on HACS is from users, but I thought perhaps HA maintained the “store”.

And I agree the name is clever!

Negative ghostrider. 100% separate. And part of WHY it’s separated - to help denote that separation to end users.

This… (HACS AND EVERYTHING IN IT)

Is NOT THAT (HA core.)

Roger that. Consider this request both in the wrong forum and DOA.

Novice users will learn the jargon, as I am, during the learning curve.

Is ok. And welcome! Keep asking questions - you now know the dynamics of HACS and how active the community is in contributing

Just… don’t ask about backup for the next few weeks. Let that one die down first unless you like pain.

Yeah, if that topic comes then back up.

You can change the options of HACS to give it a different name in the sidebar if you want to.

Closing as HACS is a third party integration, not core. Take it up with the developer (or heed their advice above).
