WTH: help to keep our databases healthy

I run HA for 1 year with InfluxDB and regular HA database (no mariaDB). A backup is nowadays 15GB in size.
Please provide guidance on what information is in what database, (regular logging, statistics) and how we can keep our databases healthy.

That would be pretty much the case when using the default settings (to keep it healthy and reasonable). Considering your database size, I suspect you have adjusted things like purge times.

Hi Frenk,

I realized that I installed InfluxDB without restricting what sensors to monitor.
Meanwhile I bought a 2nd RPI4/SSD so that I can run a test system next to my production system.
BTW for my HA DB I set purging to 7d.

Wrt databases I have 2 questions:
1: in the past I suffered hickups in energy views (all day or days no recordings, suddenly a spike with of all energy of that day in one moment). I created a new sensor with only increasing values to prevent thse spikes. As a result, I lost my history. How to fix this?
2: my new installation is a fresh install. How can I migrate data from old HA DB to new HA DB?
Especially for energy this is info that I’d like to keep.

Dank-je-wel!

Grtz
