WTH is the entity_id picker sometimes buggy?

Hello everyone,
sometimes I observe the following errors with the entity_id picker:

  1. Clicking in the selection field and inserting a search term (from the clipboard) causes the frontend to freeze. I think this happens if you insert the search term so quickly that the selection list has not yet been able to open.

  2. When selecting an entity_id, sometimes another entity_id is used and stored. Then, the desired entity_id can only be picked via yaml. I could not reproduce this well. Occasionally I observed this behaviour when different entity_ids had the same pretty name. Maybe this is the causality?
