WTH is there no documentation about the flags in Binary Sensor Groups

When I create a group helper of Binary Sensors I get two switches in the setup window:

Both of them come with absolutely no instructions - not even if you click on the “?” icon in the top left corner to go to the documentation

While “Hide members” is relatively clear (still: not a single instance of the word “hide” on the documentation page) - what does “All entries” even mean?

My best guess is that it is an “AND”/“OR” switch, i.e. either all entries have to be true for the group to become true or it is enough to just have any entry to be true.

(If you search “all entries” (with quotes) in the documentation only two unrelated pages turn up)

It’s probably the all: configuration in the documentations.

Yes, that’s it.

“Hide members” will hide the group members from the frontend. This is a UI only thing and the whole UI is poorly documented

“All entities” requires all entities to be on for the group to be on (AND logic, as you said), and is the configuration option Hellis mentioned.

Just for the record: I wasn’t primarily looking for the solution to these questions, I was wondering WTH it is not documented in either the help page or even directly in the form. This is an easy fix (aside the fact that you may need translations into who-knows-how-many languages) that would make Home Assistent much more useable to everyone.

The second one is documented.

As for the first one, it is part of a much larger issue of poor UI documentation.

The philosophy terms I’ve heard about this is “A good UI should document itself”. That may work with mobile apps, but I don’t really think that philosophy should apply to HA. We simply need better documentation for beginners.

Or at least have the same names in UI and yaml.
Why did they have to name it all entities instead of just all?

Typically there’s a description below those, I’m not sure why there isn’t one.

Ah, I somehow overlooked it, but yes - you are right. All entitites is there in the page.
