WTH is there no (easy) way to add CSV imports to historical data

I have a few sensors where I have a historic data from a pre-Home Assistant era (power generation, living room temperature, …).
I would like to import this data to Home Assistant without having to mess around within the database itself.

Hello,

We need a way to provide historical data to HA.
Let’s say I want to track the mileage of my car. I don’t want live data, I just need to be able to type in the mileage somewhere in HA, I can set up an input number, but I have no way to add historical data although I have them on the bills of the garage.
Same thing for water consumption.
Manually entering date/values would also update long term statistics.
