We do have some covers on roof windows and I needed to add a condition which checks whether its frozen outside before moving the window shutter down/up.
It would be great if there would be an optional condition available for covers checking this upfront - then I would also be able to add the covers to Assist/Alexa but right now it’s not possible.

The open/close/stop actions can be lists of actions that include conditions.
That’s true but as far as I understood, I need to create the whole cover then instead of just creating a “wrapper” which just kind of inherits the defaults from the original cover and overrides everything I explicitly specify. Right?
Correct. This is the wrapper you have to create. It inherits nothing. You are free to do with it what you wish.
Creating a template cover works perfectly. But I have over a dozen, just for the purpose of blocking the blind when there is an adverse condition. So a service to enable/disable operations on entities like this would be a very welcome addition in my book. It saves me the trouble of hiding the ‘real’ unprotected cover entity from being accessed when it is not safe to do so.
