WTH is this "Scheduled maintenance" ?!

Hi!

Anyone got this notification? If yes, what is it, more exactly?!

Thanks!

I got this as well. I’m assuming it’s for Nabu Casa, but I don’t subscribe to that so not sure why I’d be getting notified about maintenance for it. And if it is for Nabu Casa, it needs to more explicitly state that.

I got it as well and I also don’t subscribe. The way it’s written makes me have to believe it’s for the Nabu Casa cloud services. If it is, it really shouldn’t be popping up for installs that don’t subscribe and also should be more clear as to what it is that is being affected!

I have opened an issue in HA Core GitHub. The only fact that such “notifications” can be pushed to HA instances without the Cloud integration enabled and even Analytics enabled does not look any secure. What else can be pushed to users?

Scheduled maintenance notification without cloud setup · Issue #81102 · home-assistant/core (github.com)

I thought the same thing, but as you all here, I was thinking at the same fact… why the hell, home assistant sent me notification about something which I DON’T use?!

Strange…

Pretty clear it’s a cloud update. If you look at the notification, it’s the Nabu Casa icon.

On my side, I appreciated this new way of communication. As they push updates, they push updates on the cloud system maintenance and I think it’s a good practice.
The lesson learn probably is “Please push messages only to users subsribed to the cloud service”, “Please allow users to flag which kind of push notification they want or do not want to receive” and “Please be very well descriptive in the notifications” (It was clear to me but apparently for several others is not, so worth to considering being more clear in the communications).

Next time, the written the better

I didn’t get this notification. Probably because I don’t use default_config and I don’t have cloud in my configuration yaml. This also removes “Home Assistant Cloud” item from settings.

I suspect it’s based on whether you have cloud “enabled” in your configuration, which is most people because most people will be using default_config. I personally don’t see this as a problem because you have chosen to keep cloud aspect enabled and running on your system.

The default_config really needs an exclude option or similar. I really don’t want to have to maintain the entire list myself (in the yaml no less) just to disable one part.

Great idea for a WTH :+1:

the reason for this is pretty simple and already explained.

The “Repair” is just looking for publications on the HomeAssistant “Alerts” Website.
There are Alerts for available integrations - but also notifications such as this one we see above.

Nothing is really “pushed into” your installation… the “repairs” is just pulling from a specific HA website.
That’s the reason, why all of us got this notification - but I agree, it would be great if this can be refined by using some “channels” for example.
