No complaint specifically, but something that’s been bothering me with various home automation solutions.
Now that we have areas (that many seem to use as substitute for rooms) I think it’s time to rethink how door/windows sensors (opening or locks) are presented.
I feel some cool things could be done in abstracting doors as an entry-point between areas, but I’m not entirely sure what for. I have ideas that are just out of reach and that I can’t formulate.
Anyone else think the whole concept of “openings” (door and/or windows) in home automation is missing its true potential?
Like “I’ve detected motion in a room that has all doors/windows closed, so until one is opened I must consider the room as occupied”?
I’m not even sure the idea really makes sense or is useful, but I think there’s something to explore…
