I like persistent notifications. I use them a lot, but … I find that it is difficult to dismiss them quickly without having to scroll all the way to the bottom. Also, sometimes I need to keep several and don’t want to ‘batch delete’. In the current implementation the user has to scroll up and down to bring the dismiss link into view. Once clicked, the entire message list shifts and the mouse is no longer pointing at the next dismiss link. I propose a minor reorganization of the display. See screen shot below!
Move the area highlighted in orange UP to the area highlighted in green and move the DISMISS text to the right side. This would allow for very quick scan or read a message and delete if appropriate, AND keep the mouse hovered over the next ‘DISMISS’ link. The Dismiss All link can remain at the bottom of the list so that functionality does not change.
If I decide to keep a message then I will still have to move and scroll to get to the next message, which is the state we currently live in. However, most of the time I simply read and dismiss messages and the proposed change would make that experience even easier.
