WTH: PR #2802 Aqara Thermostat E1 external sensor still not merged in ZHA

Why the heck is this PR still not merged?

It works flawlessly for me, it’s just annoying to have to add manually this quirk.

I have this TRV but i dont see attribute 5010 (0x1392) for cluster: 6470. So this settings does not work for me. :frowning:

Did you apply the custom quirk from the PR? Did you unpair and re-pair the TRV?

I’ve created custom_components\zhaquirks\xiaomi\aqara folder, then i copied the file thermostat_agl001.py from zha-device-handlers/zhaquirks/xiaomi/aqara/thermostat_agl001.py at 7f30c58c1d1ce5e4348fad491e8ef991177403ae · zigpy/zha-device-handlers · GitHub

Then i restarted HA and “reconfigure” my zigbee ZHA device but nothing has changed.

The correct path for thermostat_agl001.py is ./zha_quirks

When you fix the path, you must delete the thermostat from Home Assistant entirely, and readd it.

I have done this but nothing has changed:

What do you see in the device information?

It should say “Quirk: thermostat_agl001.AGL001” like in this screenshot

Did you enable custom quirks in configuration.yaml?

Thank You. This is what I was missing.

I know necroposting and stuff. But I though I’d share the blueprint I made for the Aqara TRV based on the quirk from the PR, so people don’t have to go on the same journey I had to: Aqara E1 thermostat external temperature sensor by mb1248 · Pull Request #2802 · zigpy/zha-device-handlers · GitHub

Open your Home Assistant instance and show the blueprint import dialog with a specific blueprint pre-filled.

This Blueprint takes the following inputs:

  • Takes an Aqara TRV (ZHA)
  • A temperature sensor
  • (Cluster Id)

…and triggers:

  • upon sensor change
    (only when on)
  • every 30 minutes
(I thought since the thing is battery based, maybe don’t spam it every minute when it’s not actually doing anything)
  • when turning on the heating

…doing the following:

  • set thermostat to use external sensor
  • update value of external sensor based on provided sensor value

There was no good guide on how to setup an automation for this, so I figured it out based on some Github comments and created a blueprint that abstracts almost everything, so you only have to provide the device and a temperature sensor.
