I’d love to be able to purge recorder in steps, for example:
“keep everything for the first month, keep only 30-min intervals (or for example half of it) until 2 months, keep hourly until 6 months and then 3 times a day forever”
That would be great for temperature tracking etc, since you would be able to “zoom in” to values that are not too far away, but for older values which you just need an approximate temperature, not every 30 seconds etc.
That’s where InfluxDB comes in for your long term historical time based data, and Grafana to be able to display it.
(Having said that, the entry barrier is substantial. I set both up months ago. And have yet to make a single graph in Grafana. It’s all foreign to me and I can’t quite wrap my head around it yet. But the data is there, and once I can sit down and work on this in the winter, I should be able to get that going…)
