WTH Set dark theme as default on web browser

I wish there was a setting to select the default theme for the web browser UI (e.g., always light, always dark, follow browser theme). I’d like a persistent setting that applies between different browsers (e.g., isn’t cookie based). It may be helpful to test using an ephemeral browser like Mullvad browser.

This is part of a much larger profile settings save location issue.

Do they get saved per browser for people with wall panels they want to set differently to their main browser?

Or do they get saved per user so each user can set them up how they like?

I’m firmly in the second camp. Though people will complain they have to set up a user just for that one wall panel.

This was a quite popular request in previous WTH months, e.g. WTH: Why most settings are browser instance dependant

Don’t forget to vote for your own WTH.

I agree that I would prefer a setting that is per user.

what about setting it up per-user withan option to override for the current browser?

It’s simple af.

If it really is that simple you should submit a PR for it.

On each new device, or new URL I use HA with, I have to redo my setup on the sidebar, removing all the useless stuff and reordering it the way I like it.

Wouldn’t it be possible to have it linked to the user and be the same on each device?
But still have an option to have a different one per device for those who have different setups on desktop and on mobile for example?
