Why there is no simple way to create in the GUI Min / Max temp sensor for the current day / week / month or year. Ideally, this would record a timestamp.
Current implementation is really impractical. For example, as a gardener, I need to know the recorded min / max temperature for the current day (midnight to midnight) from my outdoor weather station. I am not interested in statistics on a rolling basis last 24 hours for example because this gives weird information, i.e. extremes might be from the day before but still within last 24 hours.
Another issue is Min / Max sensor requires min 2 sensors - ???. Everyone that follows weather forecasts knows that these extremes should be for a set period of time (day, week, month etc.)
Right now, the easiest way for me is to use Node Red and create a flow that stores the value and resets it accordingly to set time because there is an easy way to set it up in HA.
I managed to create flows in NodeRed that suit my needs but that was not the point of WTH.
My point is that the current solution is useless as it is impractical. Any weather station software has this but HA has a weird statistical sensor. There are also traditional MIN/MAX thermometers for gardeners that can quickly give you the same what I created in NodeRed.
