WTH- user friendly onboarding for guests/family

Just got started with setting HA up 2 months ago. Love it so far. Just had my wife download it last week once I got enough of it settled and functional. First thing came to mind was she’s real confused… and I thought what about some sort of onboarding type feature that shows them around a bit on first login. Maybe a tips and tricks too.

Know how some apps you open the first time and it does like 1-5 steps on kinda where things are and end user has to click through them to get past it but they pick up a few ideas on where things are and how to navigate it? Just like that.

Maybe take it one step further and ability to be custom to each homes setup as everyone’s will be different and let the admin pick the 1-5 need to know buttons and items.

Love the work and project! Thank you!

I did

This was one of the reasons I built a physical remote for Home Assistant (PARAM KEY). For guests, babysitters, handing them an app or teaching dashboard navigation for a one-time use was a bit cumbersome.
This definitely piqued the interest of quite a few friends in a recent gathering.

Possibly outside your intent, but I’ve definitely had people think of the system as complicated even from the jump when simply being asked for a URL. Maybe a QR code for initial setup for a new user? Provides the username/URL, maybe optionally the initial password.
