as title really.
If we dont want the Map in the left side menu, we need to disable default:
in yaml and add all required integrations manually.
Please allow for a configurable Map option in the UI?

Because maintaining default: (incl. adding all and future integrations) is a sufficient way to do so.
This is the answer I got when I wanted to disable Shelly integration.
Otherwise, I support any activity toward an easy way of disabling default components (or deactivating their functionality)
Not sure this is what I am asking really, There’s no such thing as a Shelly menu-item in the left side panel?
I would love to have an option
Show Map: true/false
in /profile, or even /config/lovelace/dashboards (but since its no dashboard, I didnt suggest anything, and let the frontend devs decide what they would see fit)
Agree we could ask the same for several others, like Media, though one wouldn’t use it if you would like direct access probably. Most other items are related to being admin, so those are ok.
Leaving Map imho, hence the WTH…
Got it. So you are not after disabling map integration but just removing it from the menu.
Voted anyway. It could be a precedent.
correct! I use the maps elsewhere in the dashboards.
Do not get the problem? Just clisk on your avatar in bottom left corner to open your personal settings, scroll a bit down to ‘Change the order and hide items from the sidebar’, click Edit, click X next to map, click DONE in upper left corner…
Yay. I never realized that…… my bad, so sorry.
1 ‘but’ though: this is a per user setting, and as admin I can not control what other users see.
Id love to be able to control that more fundamentally.
Also: before I click X: can we re-enable that specific item ?
It’s not just per user, but also per device and per browser.
Totally unsuitable for your ask. I’m voting.
Same process, but removed item is moved down the list. From there you can click on + to restore. Also, you can drag’n’drop items on the list to reorder them.
More over, per netword too! Even with the same device and browser if you move (on mobile) from LAN to cellular connection it is recognized as new connection…
But to be honest it is related to keeping settings as such for HA, not strictly related to map. I’ve seen at least 1 other thread addressing this annoyance.
haha, so you do get the problem
please upvote…
would be nice is there was an opt-out
default:
not:
map
energy
just someyhing like that,
or make it an UI thing with checkboxes
