Assist in Home Assistant works quite well, but it’s missing one key feature: continuous conversations. Right now, every interaction requires saying “OK Nabu” before each command. For example:
- “OK Nabu, turn on the light in the living room.”
- Response: “The light in the living room is on.”
- “OK Nabu, set the temperature to 22°C.”
And so on… This becomes tedious quickly. Why not allow the assistant to automatically listen for the next command after responding, just like Google Assistant or Alexa?
Here’s an example of a continuous conversation:
- “OK Nabu, turn on the light in the living room.”
- Response: “The light in the living room is on. What’s next?”
- “Set the temperature to 22°C.”
- Response: “Temperature set to 22°C.”
This would greatly enhance the usability of Assist, especially when performing multiple actions in a row.
