Hey Everyone!
It took me about 45 minutes to get a HomeKit integration to work for one stupid reason - dashes. The device displayed the connection code as two sets of 4 digits, so I just typed those digits in as they were shown when Home Assistant asked for the connection code. Fail. Fail. Fail. Nope, you have to type the digits in a different format than shown on the device: digit digit digit dash digit digit dash digit digit digit.
Is there a reason why the automation system can’t automatically automate converting 8 digits in a row to the 3-2-3 format?
This would help out humans who are new to entering codes and it seems easy for an automation system to do automatically, especially since the digits are displayed differently on the device: strip all non-digit characters, add dashes where they are supposed to be if there are 8 digits, and live happily ever after. Automation!
Thanks again for being awesome!
