If the add-on fail to start for any reason (e.g. after update or some dependancies) the only way to learn about that is by visual noticing that fact in add-ons screen.
Yes, it is possible to make a custom automation for being notified about that… Still, I thing it should be notified automatically by the core, at least in the “Notifications” screen.
