WTH: why is it not a simple case of just plugin in a drve in HA yellow for music assistant

First, I haven’t been on here for a long time but want to ask about external hard drives or thumb drives.

I checked before posting this and HA yellow sees it but I am unable to access a thumb drive within Music assistant. So why is it not just a case of pluging in a drive and being able to access the music held on it. I am not interested in using spotify and cannot connect to my sonic server on Nextcloud.

I did look at that to see if would help and in the case of the thumb drive it was not able to connect.

This is an operating system question. If you can see the drive in HA under /media then use the local disk provider. Otherwise it has to be shared so MA can access it via SMB
