WTH, why is the assist pipeline not available to the event bus?

Why can’t I access any of the assist pipeline outside of the pipeline (i.e. the event bus that powers literally everything else)

I just came here to see if this was already posted before posting it myself! The developer documentation says “The core of Home Assistant is driven by events.”, so it seems odd that Pipeline Events aren’t fired on the Event bus. Maybe I’m missing something, but this seems like a perfect WTH if it’s a small change that would really open up a lot of possibilities, particularly given the popularity of this functionality right now.

Right?! Maybe there is a good reason, but seems odd that a functionality that they have been building for 2 years is excluded from the core driver of HA
