WTH, why is there no status notification during restoring a backup on a fresh install?

First of all, I am very happy with the functioning of Home Assistant. So saying guys “Hey What the heck gues” seems a bit demanding to all the great contributors. However, ofcourse I understand this is an attempt to get a lot of ideas and suggestions and for the sake of adding a suggestion, I would like to add the following.

I have done multiple restorations of backups on different fresh installed Home Assistant installations.

During onboarding, In below screen there is an option for restoring a backup:

However, when I upload a backup and choose Restore, nothing happens in the browser window. It comes across to the user that the process didn’t go as succeeded en it seems unsure whether the backup file is being processed.

I made a screen recording about this:

Adding a notification in the screen after hitting restore would be great! Something like: "Restoring being processed, this can take up to 20 minutes. "

I agree. Are there any plans in showing some form of progress on the restoral of a backup?

I do believe this has changed since I posted this. It has been a while ago I restored a backup, but I do believe a new waiting icon is shown after uploading the backup. While first there was just nothing.

I am restoring from a core_2024_11.0 and there is still no notifications on the restore process. I like HA but this onboarding using a previous backup stinks.

My backup file is 166MB and it has taken 6 hours so far and I am not clear whether the restore is not working and whether it is still in process.

Should I leave this restore process or is it dead?
