The Mobile App
integration includes none mobile devices such as Laptops and Desktops.
Really this should be called Companion App
IMHO
I know it’s a small thing but I think labelling the companion app as mobile can be confusing, in particular to newer users.

The integration is named mobile_app
as well as all the files associated with it.

Ah yes, I can see that. At least that explains it but it could still be somewhat misleading.

Anything that anyone creates that connects to HA through that method.

the beauty of HA. you want it different, make it different, people took that and ran with it.
EDIT: well, there WERE other options. I’m pretty sure the companion app added the features that made them special though, I tried a couple a couple years back, one was heavily based on mqtt usage, but I found the companion app did everything i needed, so I didn’t stick with them. The mqtt one had a nice dashboard though.

I think there still is a hass.agent for Windows that use the method.

it may do that if set up using the api, if you set it up with recommended settings it goes through mqtt.
