My motion and door sensors have finally bit the dust so time to change over to something else. So I need suggestions to on what to do.
I had one sensor pick up motion that in turn would turn on a light in the spare room. The others are just the basic pick up motion and door opening kind of thing.
Been looking at Aqara and Sonoff,but wanted to see if others were available.
Sonoff can be hit or miss. I have a mixture of aqara and sonoff in the house. I maybe threw away 3 of the 10 sonoffs. I haven’t had any issues with aqara. I tend to buy them 10 at a time from aliexpress as I don’t mind the wait.
Or you could look at z-wave stuff, there are good recommendations on this forum
I use Aqara and Philips Hue motion.
Both have advantages.
Aqara has a wider view, but cool down is not configurable at about 90 seconds. There is a hardware hack for a 5 sec cool down, but there are some reports it doesn’t work on newer units. There are newer models announced (T1 and P1) that supposedly have configurable cool down, but don’t seem to be commonly available yet (at least to the US).
Philips has configurable cool down and sensitivity and legendary battery life.
If I had to choose only one, it would be the Philips. If in the US, Costco often has a 2 pack of the Philips for $60.
Any particular vendor on Ali you use?
