Xiaomi Cube: Swing and Alert?

I saw the Xiaomi Cube have “swing” and “alert”.

How are these actions?

I move the cube in all directions and I don’t get them

“Alert” I’ve seen happen almost like a motion sensor. If you haven’t touched the cube in a while, and then you touch it, it sends alert.

I believe “swing” happens if you hold the cube in your hand and swing your arm around and then stop swinging. I don’t have the device handy to try it, but I seem to remember that being the case (which is a motion I’ll never use, so I have no automations for it).

Is there a way to identify the “Side-up” when any of the actions was executed ? … this would increase the number of possible actions 6 times …
e.g.

  • tap on side 1 to switch on living room light
  • double tap on side 1 to switch off living room light
  • tap on side 2 to switch on living bedroom light
  • double tap on side 2 to switch off living bedroom light

maybe somebody is coming up wit a clever solution :sunglasses:

Thanks!.

Alert works for me, but I don’t get “swing” yet… I will try more after.

I wish. In this case, it’s Xiaomi’s fault. The zigbee device (the cube) appears to be actually reporting which face is up. Xiaomi interprets this into the flip90 and flip180 events that we see from the gateway. Using a different hub (deconz, for example) the side on top during a double tap event gets reported.

To my knowledge, single tap is not an event at all.
