I have Xiaomi Gateway which seemed to capped at 20 devices. Can anyone confirm this? When I checked FAQs on their website it says 32 devices so I am not sure why it’s not allowing me to add any more devices.
It is indeed 32 devices what error are you getting when you try to add? If you are over 20 you might want to start to look at getting a second gateway or moving off on to an alternate option as there limits are much higher.
@jimpower I don’t get any errors when I add new device. It just does not show up. Also I don’t know if its related to hub version. I am pretty sure its not the latest the one that supports HomeKit.
Doesn’t show up where in mi home appor in home assistant?
Both in Mi Home app and Home Assistant. New devices only shows up in HA after restart if I am not wrong. So tried restarting HA as well.
What device are you trying to add?
I am trying to add Smoke Detectors.
Are you adding the smoke type and not the gas type? Is your account registered for mainland China?
Yes, I am adding Smoke detectors only and yes my hub is configured to use in Main Land China. I already have 2 Smoke detectors added to my hub. If I have to add any new smoke detectors, I have to remove previously added sensors and Smoke detectors.
At this point I have following things added to my hub.
1 Natural Gas Leak Detector
2 Smoke Detectors
6 Motion Detectors
5 Water Leak Detectors
1 Vacuum
2 Door Sensors
1 Smart Switch
1 Temperature Sensor
Previously I had 2 more Temperature Sensors which I replaced with 2 Smoke Detectors.
I still need to add 4 more Smoke Detectors and have another 5 Temperature Sensors lying around.
That is strange I have currently added 68 devices to my system using 2 gateways so I’m on the limit or just over it it would seem.
Is there way to tell if hub is Gen 1 vs 2 ?
Not sure mine is a gen 2 but I can’t open it in app as I don’t want to upgrade its firmware incase it breaks.
@jimpower I ended up doing hard reset on hub and re adding all the devices. It seems to working now. I might have hit weird bug or something.
For anyone else who got to this thread later in future, to hard reset your hub -
Press the Hub button 10 times in rapid succession. After the yellow light flashes, it indicates that the factory settings have been restored.
Note: This operation will delete all the data such as the timing, battery level, and sub-device list of the accessories.
