Xiaomi Light strip - Unavailable after some time

Hi i am wondering if anyone having issues with the xiaomi light strips

It works fine for the most part, except that it goes unavailable after some time (once every 2 days?)
It happens randomly, the device does not seem to be disconnected whatsoever

I can still control it fine through the app. To fix it i had to turn off (remove power) from the light strip and turning it back on manually

Any ideas what is causing this?

I had this exact issue with one of my two strips. I tried resetting it and re-adding it but still got the same issue. A few weeks ago I changed the server it was connected to, to the Germany one and it’s been fine since.

Thanks ill give it a try and ill report back

The server should not make any difference… you can block them from internet access and they still work. This is most likely a WiFi issue causing this.

I switched to germany, its been 2 days now, seems to be going strong… will wait for more

ok after 1 week, it went down again, it didnt really solve the issue. Wonder what kind of wifi settings is interferring with it

also experiencing the same thing.
not sure why

I was having issues with Yeelights going ‘unavailable’ until I got rid of my wifi extender… that seemed to be causing my issues

Thing is, the loght is still connected fine when checking with mi home app. Only in homeassistant. I dont have any wifi extender too.

I never use the MiHome app so I can’t compare. I do also have issues with HA saying my Google Cast group is unavailable sometimes which is really annoying… i wonder if the two problems are related within HA?

I also have this issue since 0.78 version of Hassio

The issues I got with xiaomi devices being unavailable are mostly connected with wifi. Changing the wifi channel from the router seems to fix this.
Depends on your wifi router and the channel your neighbors use. Try to choose an unoccupied channel which is not always available.

I have similar issues - wifi - the strip goes offline from mihome and homeassistant.

And the little blue led flashes to say it is offline. I have a couple of APs so its probably connecting to wrong one, and falling off network. Apparently its a bit temperamental.

Hi, I used my modem’s parental control to disable internet access to a ceiling lamp, a desk lamp and two led strips. From when I turn off the internet access I only can control the strips for a few minutes before they become unavailable, the strange thing is that the other two light are still working after some hours. From the log I can see that the two strips are closing the connection and not responding the polling. How did you manage to make the strip work without connection?
