Xiaomi motion sensor: how to pair reliably?

I have a number of Xiaomi motion sensors. Some pair and sense just fine.

Some I’m trying to pair are having issues. It indicates pair successfully, but never reports any motion and eventually gets flagged as “unavailable” in HA (no matter where it is physically located). Re-pairing it runs into the same issue. I am connecting them with Zigbee with a GoControl CECOMINOD016164 HUSBZB-1 USB Hub.

Is there anything I am missing here to ensure these devices are connected properly?

Aqara devices don’t totally follow Zigbee specifications. Although not for HA, this topic might by relevant:

Are the ones that behave well the same model as the ones that don’t behave?
There is a similar history with the aqara door sensors, where the old model ( [MCCGQ11LM) works very well, but the new updated model (MCCGQ14LM) was not working very well with zigbee2mqtt. The new model only works well if you update the firmware of your zigbee adapter. Please take a look on the page:

Perhaps if you update the firmware of your zigbee controller the ones that don’t behave may start working well… Just a suggestion…

I have the GoControl CECOMINOD016164 HUSBZB-1. How are firmware updates done? I do not see any firmware downloads on the vendor website, unless I am missing it.
