Poor journalism. The vulnerability is actually in the software running on the ESP. Otherwise a whole bunch of other devices would be affected.
It’s a vulnerability in the API AND the ESP8266 issue.
She could control all Feeders from one location, so not directly related to a locel ESP8266 bug.
So does the supposed ESP issue have implications for all the other smart devices out there that use it?
Nothing was mentioned.
Hence it is not an issue with the ESP chip but the software.
