Yale Assure Lock with Z-Wave

Anyone have a Yale Assure Lock with Z-Wave, YRD226-ZW2-BSP?

I’m curious to know how it’s working for you. I installed it today and I’m generally happy with it so far.

Has battery life been reasonable? Anyone using NiMH rechargeables with it?

I bought my first one on July 24 this year. Model ‎YRD450-ZW2-0BP.

Installed it and it was working amazing in HA. Two days later I ordered two more.

The first battery is currently at 57%. The next two are 60% and 68%. They were installed several weeks apart.

They do go unavailable sometimes. I built an automation that when one does that to ping it. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it does not. Manually flipping the lock cylinder brings it back online every time.

It has never flipped from locked to unlocked without us doing it or HA doing it as programmed though.

I hope that helps you out.

Did you use the yale home connect bridge or direct zwave control? I am trying to find some resources on how to connect directly with zwave (no yale bridge) and struggling. Any resources/guidance would be appreciated.

Z-Wave only. No bridge.

It has been a while since I had to connect one. But it might need to be very close to the Z-Wave stick to pair.

I assembled the lock first and made sure I had the “handedness” set correctly (my door opens in right to left). I then brought the lock to my Z-Wave stick and paired via HA.

You need to use security for a lock, so make sure that’s set when you pair.

Once I reinstalled, I “healed” my Z-Wave mesh. All good after that.

Battery life is reasonable. I use rechargeable cheapazon NiMH batteries.
