Does anyone know if it’s possible to disable the ‘lift to lock’ feature of the Conexis L1/L2 locks? This is the ‘feature’ where when you lift the handle to engage the multipoint latches it then automatically locks the cylinder too.
As the multi-point latches also engage the weather seal, out of habit, I always lift the handle up when I pop into the garden for something if the weather is bad, but with the Yale lock this now locks the cylinder and I’ve locked myself out the house twice now! (thankfully only when my wife has been at home up to now)
Seems this should be a standard option to disable it but I cannot find the option anywhere.
You’ll need to strip the lock apart to a certain degree, but I’d imagine that you could unplug the sensor that detects when the handle is lifted.
But how would you lock it afterwards?
Whilst you could lock via HA, most multipoint locks need the handle lifted before the lock can be engaged.
So, in order to lock, you would need to make sure that you lift the handle, and then use whatever method youbplan on using to initiate the locking process.
As a long time user of this lock, you soon get used to not lifting the handle!
On the L2 version of the lock they added the feature to require the handle to be lifted into the ‘Up’ position for a number of seconds (default 5) to lock the lock. If you just lift and let go, it does not lock. Sadly Yale confirmed via a support chat that they won’t be back-porting that feature to the L1. So it’s an expensive upgrade for just that feature.
