Yale connect plus wi-fi bridge - integration available?

Hi All… I have my Yale Assure Lock (Homekit compatible) integrated with Home Assistant via Bluetooth. The bluetooth connection between my server and the lock is flakey at best (even though it’s perfect in Homekit etc). I could go down the route of trying ESP32 bluetooth proxies however…

I bought a “yale connect plus wi-fi bridge” (as I will be integrating more Yale locks in the future) which supports control via WIFI.

Is there are integration available that will allow Home Assistant to communicate with the lock via WiFi instead of bluetooth?

Just a note on this, I tried the bluetooth proxy etc but it was unresponsive and slow with my Yale Linus.

Picked up the Yale connect plus bridge for £30 on eBay and had it up and running via the August integration in 5 minutes. Works fast - time will tell how reliable it is.

I did the same thing. Unfortunately it works through the August Cloud Integration and not locally, but im otherwise happy with it and it’s much more reliable.

Agreed it would be better local!

Hi @Dropbear

How is it going with Yale Wifi plus bridge with home assistant . Are you able to control the locks from home assitant or is it just the lock status ?.

hi. yes it works reliably. much better than Bluetooth for me

it does control the locks yes

This solution (Yale Linus with August integration) stopped working for me when I switched to the new Yale Home App. Has anyone a solution for that?

As far as I understand the new app moves European users of the US system to a new European system (GDPR is likely behind this - see the facebook fine today) - it’s just a guess tho. Either way, it’s going to take someone to look at any new API ( if there is one?) to bring this back into HA. be happy to be corrected wrong.

@bdraco Thank you for the link - and just had a read through - sterling work fella, and to the rest of those who stepped in. will update to the new Core version and give it a whirl - This is what is great about the HA community! Well done all.

Hi all,
My account only JUST last week (25 Sept 2023) got bumped from Yale Access to Yale Home.
I have 2 x Yale Assure Smart Locks + wifi bridge, registered in HA via the August integration and appropriate auth configuration.

Previously, with Yale Access both were registered and I had control of:
-Wake
-Lock/Unlock.
Now, with Yale Home, I only have Wake. Lock/Unlock is listed but greyed out.

I have deleted the integration and tried re-adding, this made no difference.
An entity is listed, lock.rear_door however status is Unavailable.

Did anyone else discover this after shifting to Yale Home? I’m basically seeing a read-only instance atm :frowning:

Appreciate any feedback

Fixed.

No guidance was offered from assabloy, however after the migration my Wifi Connect Bridge adapters had a solid red LED even though bridge status within the Yale Home app reported no issue.

Solution was to re-register each wifi bridge.

  1. Using Yale Home app → House Settings → Select the relevant device Bridge Settings → Disconnect Device.
  2. Re-register via Yale Home app → Set up a device.

Hopefully this may help someone else who was migrated from Yale Access to Yale Home and has same issue.

Is there a solution that works without the need for cloud access?

Works great otherwise. If the lock hasn’t been accessed in a while it may take 10+s for the lock to open, but it seems to be reliable so far

I want to know this too…

I bought a Yale Linus lock and want to integrate it to my HA.

Does the pretty expensive Yale Connect Wifi bridge solves the problem or bring me an new issue?

I want to add another smart lock in my house if this issue gets resolved.

Yale / August is cloud only & you need a bridge for each lock as it acts as a bluetooth pairing with the lock.

Basically you plug the bridge into an AC socket within BT range of the lock. Then the bridge is connected to your wifi & communicates with August Cloud.

I’ve gone back to the Zwave module, on my Conexis L1 the new method they have tried to implement just isn’t reliable for me.

Old post, but I believe that the reason is that Assa Abloy sold off the Yale and August brands within the US so that they could buy Kwikset/Baldwin. This seems to be causing all sorts of trouble, since they finally cut the last of the things over a few months ago, including their websites.
