I have a new automation that is highlighting some reliability problems I think I’ve had for a while.
HA shows this is my hub
700/800 Series
by Silicon Labs
Firmware: 7.17.2
AKA this HomeSeer SmartStick+ G3 Z-Wave Plus (V2) USB Stick with Latest Series 700 Z-Wave Chip
A lot of times when my automation fires to unlock my Yale Z-wave smart locks, it takes a very long time. Sometimes 20+ second. Automation traces show this. On a while I wrote an automation that notifies on that device’s node status and I see it going from dead to alive right before the door unlocks. Last night I saw it go unavailable and then alive a min later.
The door lock is this Yale NF-YRD622-ZW2
Firmware: 1.80
I’ve got a good bit of Z-wave spread around the house. There is even a wired switch less than 12 inches away from the lock. I see posts about upgrading the hub firmware. I struggle to find the right file for this. Can I really do it in the from within HA? The standard process seems to use a Windows .exe which is troublesome for Mac users.
I also can’t seem to find a good way to upgrade the locks if needed…they don’t seem interact with the Yale app.
Lastly, I saw opinions that I need a Z-wave repeater (not just more Z-wave devices). I’m not opposed to adding one, but want to make sure I’ve done everything else first.
