Year of the Voice, Assistant and Alexa

Hey folks,

the year of the voice is uppon us! Wohoo!
I have Alexa already paired as notification target and also via Lambda to do some rudimentary things. But I kind of did not proceed any further when HA announced the year of the voice.

Now with all those intents and sentences et all, will I be able to use Alexa as a way to use the HA Assistant? How would I connect Alexa and the Voice system together?

What did you read in the announcement that gave you the impression that you can connect Alexa with Home Assistant’s Assist?

There is a big showoff video with Siri.
Alexa is not that far out then, is it?

Could be never; it’s all speculation until the development team announces it.

same story with google assistant then I guess. I’m sure they’ll make it possible to do the same thing one way or another, with or without the need of alexa, siri, google. That would be a lot safer I guess.

Of topic: I wonder if we can protect some entities from accidently being called through the assistant? Or is it that if they dont have any aliases they cant be called upon?
