Yeelight Third-party Control

I have been trying to work out how best to integrate my Xiaomi Yeelights into HASSIO.
I have one of the desk lamps that could be flashed with Tasmota and a couple of the Bedside Lamps that no one seems to have hacked.
After some Googling I found this: https://www.yeelight.com/en_US/developer which documents a protocol for local control.
Has anyone tried this?

There is a Yeelight integration. No idea why you would need to “hack” or “flash” it at all.
The only thing you need to to is connect your light to a WiFi network and enable LAN Control in the settings per-light.

The LAN switch is part of the app. Turn it on and add Yeelight as an integration in HA. That is all

Some confusion here as to the name of the lamps. For some reason they are sold as Xaiomi and Yeelight. Unbelievably there are also two different Android apps for controlling the lamps. If you use the Xaiomi one there is no way to switch to local control. Downloaded the Yeelight app and could switch to local control. The two apps even share the same login credentials.
One of the lamps has now appeared and I just need to find the desk lamp which I may have messed up trying different ways to connect it (Homekit and editing the .conf). Thanks for the info

I wasn’t aware of this tidbit!!!
That’s incredibly confusing.

If you have this dome beside lamp, I have two of those ones installed on my Yeelight app and HA using the linked integration

Do you have links to the lamps you have so I can see them and the differences?

See the devices that I have. Not obvious that you have to use the Yeelight App.

I definitely agree with you. I am not sure what happened on my end that I assumed the Yeelight app would work on the lamp (and it did).

Perhaps the packaging said Yeelight on my one?
