Yet another "Unable to access Home Assistant externally"

Hi guys,

I tried to follow some previous questions that are similar, but I still cannot access HA from outside my lan. I always get “The connection has timed out” in my browser.

  • I have HA installed on Docker on Debian 10.
  • The ports 443 and 8123 are forwarded and open to the exterior.
  • I use DuckDNS with LetsEncrypt add-on which is correctly configured.

What more can I do and test?

Here’s my setup

That doesn’t really help. Are you using something like the official Nginx proxy addon - or are you doing SSL directly inside Home Assistant? In either case you only need to be forwarding ONE port, not both of them. Have you checked that your router is set to forward the ports to the correct internal IP address?
Finally, Debian 10 is not supported, you have to upgrade to Debian 11 (that’s not the problem here, but it will be soon).

The debian 11 requirement is for supervised only, not docker.

Although OP says that it is in Docker, OP also says it’s using the Lets Encrypt and DuckDNS add-ons… you can’t install the add-ons if you are not running at least supervised can you?

That’s true.

( also under the posted System Health section, it says Installation Type: Home Assistant Supervised … but I have only just noticed that myself haha )

Yes the ports are forwarded to the right PC. Is there something I should configure on Debian such as the firewall?

Use NabuCasa and support the developers who have created this mighty beast we love.
