YoLink integration

Being that it’s October, if there’s any chance of a local hub being released by end-of-year, they must have made those decisions because the product has to be in final testing to get into production.

So, @Eric-YoLink any chance we get that those specs? Or has the device been delayed until next year?

I also haven’t seen any mention of a local API / hub in any of their promotional emails for new products, etc., which makes me fear that even if it is on their roadmap, it may be a way off. I’ve been burned in the past by vendors promising local functionality “coming soon” to have it never come to fruition (ehhmm SmartThings) and learned my lesson the hard way, that if local access if one of my core requirements of an ecosystem (it is in this case), not to dive in until that capability is a reality.

I agree 100%. Yolink has many products I could use, but I will not touch them until the local control is a reality. It goes for Yolink as well as for everything else. If I can’t control it locally, I rather stay away.

I must have been hiding in a cave for a while because I didnt even discover YoLink until last night. My first thought after researching the marketing website was that it was extremely exciting because they mention LoRaWAN all over their page Explore Home Page . You get the distinct impression that it is compatible with all of the “millions of devices” worldwide, but no where did I see mentioned the **** Not compatible with LoRaWAN or most of what we just mentioned ****

Looking forward to them supporting the open protocol they champion on the website until then Ill go back into my Zigbee cave.

Keeping the request alive … and sharing my progress attempts. I am not sure where I heard this from, but Generation 1 (2x2 buttons)

is not compatible with HA. I purchased one and really gave it my best effort, but @Eric-YoLink (Eric Vanzo) kind of disappeared from the few forums he was supporting and I gave up. That is until I read his recent news letter announcing Generation 2 (1x4 Buttons) specifically compatible with Home Assistant.

It installs fine in the YoLink app but still does not appear in HA. If my sources are correct, @Eric-YoLink returns from vacation today. I have faith that he knows how to interface. I will post the solution once tested… Meanwhile, if anyone else has information, please post it here. Thanks!

@007DJ Just curious what your use case is for the FOB? I could see it being useful as a home remote to arm/disarm an alarm system, lock/unlock doors, turn exterior lights on/off. What are your plans for it?

Curious as well. Currently trying to find something that visually looks nice that is akin to a Zigbee Pico remote but unfortunately most of the options are seriously ugly or are one button with multi press options.

Hey @Eric-YoLink, any word on getting the outdoor 2 outlet plug integrated with HA? It’s model YS6802-UC according to my YoLink app. Thanks again!

edit: @Eric-YoLink do you know if the only thing needed to bring the rest of the SKUs into the HA integration is Python coding on the client-side? Or are there changes that need to happen on the YoLink API server side? If it’s the former, the HA dev community is pretty self-sufficient in terms of writing integrations so long as the API documentation is available and accurate. Just thought I’d throw it out there if YoLink/YoSmart has limited resources to work on 3rd party integrations. Thanks!

@_Mike, Thanks for the reply. My intent is to activate HA Automatons, Scenes, and Scripts. (It would be true smart-home if I could activate Scenes/Scripts with the push of a remote button!) I have tried daily contacting support, but I am told that only @Eric-YoLink can help, but he has fell silent the past two weeks. My 30-day return window is approaching quickly…

I have some Lutron Pico remotes that activate HA scripts. They are handy, but they aren’t really the kind of thing that leaves your house. I could see giving this FOB to a pet sitter instead of a house key/alarm code. One button could unlock house and disarm the security system. Another could lock everything up and turn off the lights when they leave.

I keep my first gen fob in my car. It’s odd, by my newish car cuts power to the HomeLink (garage door) buttons when the car is off. I keep the fob on the visor for when I happen to shut the car off before hitting it. I have the yolink “finger” doohicky - best MyQ alternative I’ve found.

Anyway… I’d definitely like to use the other three buttons to do various Home Assistant things: toggle outside lights, lock/unlock the front door, etc.

I’m … really bummed. I just received a ton of Yolink gear after ‘assuming’ local control via HA. Back to Amazon it all goes until I can actually integrate it all locally. No AWS garbage for me.

Update for all the YoLink users in this thread.
As far as I can see, @Eric-YoLink has not been on the HA Community for over a month. It appears that he is swamped with other duties in the company  In desperation, I replied to an email he sent. and again no reply from [email protected] and worse, support (949) 825-5958 was unaware of the integration with HA and said to email [email protected]. … The, after nearly giving up I received a reply from Eric stating that other people are working the HA integrations. The signature block explains his silence.

My Yolink motion sensor has a temperature sensor built in, but it doesn’t appear in HA entities. Anyone know how it could be added?

That may work, he never answered mine; however, eventually he found my text messages.

The YoLink Smart Sprinkler Controller (YS4102-UC) replaced my Insteon based sprinkler controller and I was looking forward to better manual control and automation of this product as the YoLink App software matured. However, this product appears to have vanished from the YoSmart/YoLink website and the in-app Explore/Store. (Why no love for this sprinkler controller? It has been really reliable.) Can someone here add to the Integration so that I can script and automate this sprinkler controller through HomeAssistant? With my previous Insteon based sprinkler controller, I was able to script various automations including current weather conditions, timers, and motion sensors. Being able to tie my lawn sprinklers to my backyard motion sensors was a great way to break my puppy from the bad habit of digging deep holes right in the middle of our lawn! (Others could also utilize this method to discourage wildlife from foraging through their garden-farm patch, etc.) I can’t do this currently with the YoLink Sprinkler Controller since control and integration is currently lacking both in its native app and in the HA Integration. A little love for the Sprinkler Controller, someone? It is still being sold on Amazon.

I managed to modify the yolink HA code to get the Fob working as basically 8 motion sensors (4 for long presses). It was a massive hack so I won’t be making a PR but if people want I can release the code somewhere on github. I’m sure there’s a better way to implement the feature (ie: as buttons and not fake motion sensors) but I didn’t have time to dig that deeply into the HA code.

One note is that the Generation 1 and 2 work the same under the hood so once there’s official support it should cover both.

I got a response from someone at yolink. This is a direct quote from the email “Our development department is going to set up the plan for designing the local hub next year.” So seems pretty far away.
