A matter of time, until its matter time. ![]()
Something is weird when I link or unlink devices sometimes they go offline for hours, or as short as a minute. But FINALLY I was able to get my two test devices to link up to the LAN. The dev fixed something on their side and it also fixed cellular for me.
Now some testingā¦
Local API
I was able to hit the local UAC API with ease. Took about 2 minutes to get this. Woohoo!

Iām told this is a plug-in replacement for UAC cloud API. Sadly I did not see support for MQTT, so this would be local polling for now. Asking them if MQTT is planned.
Update: Docs were added here for the local API, no mention of MQTT for this, yet. Overall | YoSmart Doc
Matter
I just cannot get Matter to work still. But like most here, Iād rather have API, of course.
Maybe the official integration can be made to support WAN/Cloud merged with LAN/local API.
Iām curious how you could tell the devices went offline and then how you could tell they came back up. I thought you mentioned above that when you add a device to the local network, it shows as āofflineā on the main app screen?
Just trying to understand and look for things to try since I now have the local hub as well (after some back and forth, they ended up offering me the $100 instead of $200!).
Once I originally linked devices, they stopped updating. Eventually YoLink Cloud has some sort of timeout if it doesnāt get a status update and marks the devices as offline and a red error shows up, it is listed in your notifications, etc. I do not know how long this takes, I always noticed the next day.
Not sure what YoLink did to make them show back up.
Iām going to grab some other spare devices I have and move them in and out of the LAN and see if it is working smoothly now.
Not that this really matters, but Iām annoyed that I canāt even factory reset mines. I follow the instruction of pressing the set button between 20-30 seconds but the hub never does what the manual says.
I only get a flashing light for the wifi set up after 5 seconds. But nothing flashes after the 20 second mark. I donāt think deleting it and adding it back matters since it seems to retain things from the previous set up like my wifi.
I did talk to Yolink and they told me to make a video for them which I did. But I still havenāt heard back since this morning. So for now I donāt know what else I can do besides wait.
Finally some good news after my series of bad ones. Yolink messaged me back and said that theyāve identified that some of their hubs has an initialization configuration issue. They pushed an update to my hub. Matter finally works and the Local API appears now. Some notes from my experience
-Flex Fob doesnāt show up over Matter
-Door sensor only shows open/close, no battery or anything else
-The app still reports open/close status
-I disconnected the hub from the internet and HA still reported status over Matter
-When I reconnected the hub to internet, the app is able to report all my offline open/close changes. And it shows the same time for all of them.
-Last not but not least, I timed cloud vs local in HA with 1 door sensor. I didnāt find Matter to be any faster than the cloud integration. They looked near identical as far as I can tell. It isnāt the end of the world, but still disappointing lol.
Well thatās it for now. Iām going to move everything over to Matter this weekend. Looking forward to a local Yolink integration in the future though.
Thank you for trail-blazing with this new hub, and for sharing your findings!
Do you think the update they pushed to your hub will be made available as a future firmware update, or should we each contact Yolink directly for this update?
Good luck with your move to Matter in HA!
Well my hub firmware hasnāt changed. It still says 0604 except it works now. Whatever they did for me they should be doing for everyone else.
But Iām impatient and so if I were you and I was having this issue then Iād message them and hopefully they will address it quickly.
After I saw the earlier post from Rice_Eater I emailed them about the Matter and local options not working on mine. That would have been about 6 hours ago. No response yet but I have previously had more luck getting responses from them in the evening.
Also someone said earlier that holding the reset button down never reset the hub. This is just anecdotal but shortly after I emailed them, my local hub went offline in the app. I initially let it sit for awhile in case an update was coming through or something but after a couple hours I unplugged it to try to get it back online. All three lights were on (green, blue, green) and remained on even when I disconnected the ethernet cord. I worried that it was bricked so I tried to hold the set button and also got no change in the lights indicating it was resetting. Then I flipped the switch to off, pressed the set button, and, while holding, flipped the switch back on. Within a few seconds the lights cleared out and the first one started flashing. This was enough for me to get back on track so I did not wait 20-30 seconds for a reset, but I suspect this is the actual procedure to accomplish that. I will try if I have any further issues but maybe itāll help someone else before that.
Well this sucks, I canāt seem to add a motion sensor. Iāve restarted Matter on the Yolink app and removed and re-added it to HA, but no luck. I even added it to Google Home just to see, and like HA, I only get my 2 contact sensors.
I donāt know if itās just me or if others are having this issue too. But I did message Yolink again. I feel like I paid to beta test there new Hub lol. Well so be it, I knew this could happen.
Havenāt tried a motion sensor, but will soon.
I had trouble trying to get new devices to show up but for me toying around led me to Matter crashing, so when I restarted Matter on the hub I noticed my contact sensor and temp/humidity sensor picked up in both Apple Home and HAAS.
Reported the crash to them. Yes, we are testers ![]()
They mentioned US servers may have had a misconfiguration, but that is fixed now.
I canāt believe thisā¦
I reached out to tech support at Yolink because of my devices randomly becoming unavailable.
After some investigating they told me since I have been such a good customer (I have over 60 devices, but a very old hub) - and due to all of the work I had done over a long time period in working with their main developer, that they are sending me free of charge, both a new hub and also a new local hub (2 hubs!) for free!
Also I just discovered the manual for the local hub:
Do both the newer hub and the new local hub still support the Virtualarm functionality?
Nice. Generally Iāve found their support very good, they never hesitated to replace a device that had an issue, etc. I have exactly 100 devices currently linked, but it was the same when I had 20 tbh.
After getting straightened out by support, early notes on Matter.
-contact sensors come through correctly and work well
-leak sensors show as contact sensors, but open/close does link to wet/dry. Luckily we can change this in HA!
-motion sensors do not come across at all. Surprised these also donāt at least show as contact since motion detected/not could link to open/close.
-as someone else mentioned, appears you may need to delete the Matter hub and re-add every time you add a device to the local network. Fine while testing but going to get annoying fast!
Still have vibration sensors, outdoor contact, and garage door relay/sensor to test.
My results with all my device types
-Contact Sensors: Yes
-Garage Tilt Sensor: Yes
-Motion Sensor: No
-Outdoor motion sensor: No
-Leak Sensor: I couldnāt add my only one, but you confirmed it sort of worked.
-Siren Alarm: No
-Flex Fob(their smart button): No
I also have 2 devices that I couldnāt add, one being the leak sensor I already mentioned and the other being a different contact sensor. I get this message when trying
Edit: I think I should mention this too. Matter stops running like 3-4 times a day for me. It feels like it can go 6-8 hours before it crashes and then all my devices become unavailable in HA. I wish we could make use of the Local API right now because their Matter integration is not ready.
There was an iOS app update today that seems to have improved things a bit.
Iāve had a FlexFob for a while. Initially I couldnāt figure out how to build an automation with it, but you all helped me figure it out.
I bought a pair of the new Mini Fobs. I had some trouble pairing them (I had to take a picture of the white-on-black QR code and invert the colors to get the Android app to recognize the code).
Now I am having a much larger problem. I extended the automation I had set up to use my FlexFob to close the garage door to add triggers for the two new mini fobs. The problem is that the automation now triggers for no reason at all.
Here are the triggers:
alias: Fob 2_long, close garage door
description: ""
triggers:
- device_id: UUID_OF_FLEXFOB
domain: yolink
type: button_2_long_press
trigger: device
- device_id: UUID_OF_MINIFOB1
domain: yolink
type: button_2_long_press
trigger: device
- device_id: UUID_OF_MINIFOB2
domain: yolink
type: button_2_long_press
trigger: device
The first time it phantom-triggered I added a notification with message:
Garage door closed via "{{ device_attr(trigger.event.data.device_id, "name") }}".
I checked the YoLink phone app to see if the button press had registered there, but it had not.
The phantom automation triggers always come from the mini fobs, never the flex fob. For now I have the notifications on, but the only action is the notification. Minifob1 and Minifob2 have both triggered the automation.
This is about the experience I am having. I did successfully connect them to matter, unplug the internet/ WAN and some automations still ran so thatās promising.
Have you been able to get anything else to work/ heard of any updates from the company?
