Z-Wave 700 USB Stick

What is the status on z-wave 700 and OpenZWave? Does OpenZWave support 700 series yet? And are there any 700 series USB sticks in the market?

OpenZWave is deprecated and I don’t think supports 700-Series dongles. The preferred and maintained zwave_js does.

Oops, that’s what I meant. I mixed up the two for a minute there. Do you know of any 700 series USB sticks in market?

Yes, from Aeotech, Zooz, Homeseer, probably others.

I am looking for the Aeotec one but it was unavailable for the moment last time i tried to buy one.

Where are you located? Zooz makes one for North America.

In europe.
Just check now and the availability is planned on july 8th for 55 euros

To answer the original question, the newer zwavejs integration supports the 700 series with zwavejs2mqtt or the zwavejs addon

I ordered the Z-Stick 7 yesterday and I got a shipping number today for the European dongle.

I just migrated my zwave from SmartThings using the z stick 7 and js 2 mqtt. Works spectacularly!

Interesting that Aeotec has a complete setup guide for using the Z-Stick 7 with HA…

As far as I can see, there is no Backup software available from Aeotec for the Z-Wave Gen 7 stick at the moment.

When I replaced an early Aeotec Gen 5 stick with an Aeotec Gen 5+ stick, I was able to use Aeotec’s backup software to transfer the network between the sticks outside of HA. This meant that replacing the Gen 5 stick with the Gen 5+ stick in HA was seamless, the existing network was carried over, and no rebuild was necessary.

So if I were to replace my current Aeotec Gen 5 stick with a Gen 7 stick in my HA installation, does this mean that I would have to rebuild my existing network from scratch? Or would the Gen 7 stick get the information from HA?

As I understand it, only difference is that Aeotec Z-Stick 7 and Z-Pi 7 has RF region optimized antennas
